What happens when a volcano meets a tornado? A magnificent way to start off the SDRD AfterShocks season that’s what!! The SDRD AfterShocks kicked off their 2012 season February 19 with a victory over the Slick City Rollerz in a battle it out bout that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
The adrenaline was running high as the SDRD AfterShocks, coached by Lady Diesel, and the Slick City Rollerz, coached by The Nice One, stepped out onto the oval at Skateworld 6907 Linda Vista Road. Spectators could see by the first jam that this would be a game to talk about.
SDRD AfterShocks and the Slick City Rollerz defensive match up were most spectacular! Soulrider (66 pts) and B. Stang (40 pts), top scoring jammers for the SDRD AfterShocks, had their work cut out for them as they faced the Slick City Rollerz blockers such as; Billy Motion, Hitman and Dunati. The SDRD Aftershocks returned the favor by lining up their defense against the Slick City Rollerz’s top scoring jammer Blitzkrieg (36 pts) with hard hitters like B. Stang, Nick Fury and Skaterbuilt.
The scoring stayed within points of eachother through the first half. By halftime the score was Slick City Rollerz 42 and SDRD Aftershocks 40. The AfterShocks were able to take the lead in the second half and never gave it up again leading them to a 122–79 victory over the Rollerz.
