How would you describe your skating style?
“Not very poetic, but it gets the job done.”

It’s Game Day: What are you thinking about when you’re lacing up your skates?
“I’m thinking about all the things I learned from the past games I’ve played in, hoping to not make the same mistakes twice. And to score points.”

Do you have a favorite motivational quote?

This season you gained a pretty important role in the league, could you tell us a little about it?
“Being president of SDRD comes at a very exciting time. We are currently an apprentice league for WFTDA, hoping to graduate this year. Playing WFTDA in 2016 will allow us a great opportunity to be more of a competitive team and see where it takes us.”

What would you say is your favorite thing about derby?
“Every practice and every game I’m learning something new. I’m challenging myself to be better, both mentally and physically, from the last time I laced up my skates.”

What advice or words of wisdom would you give to new derby players?
“It’s gonna hurt in the beginning, but don’t give up. Keep getting back up. It will get easier and be one of the best things you ever decided to do. Skate with urgency!”

Ever had a major derby related injury?
“I broke my ankle warming up at practice. We were in a pace line, taking a corner at a good pace when someone fell a few skaters in front of me. There was a pile up and nowhere to go, but straight into the step. Thank goodness it was a clean fracture and required no surgery.”

Outside of derby, do you have any hobbies?
“My other hobbies include golf, gardening and underwater basket weaving.”

What’s your favorite food to fuel your derby body?
“Spinach is my go to green, along with egg whites.”
